Open Beta Recap – MARVEL Fighting Souls

MARVEL Fighting Souls Open Beta recap — 33,233 Steam peak, Blade and Magik Vibranium meta, PC launch fixes, and August 6 launch outlook.

The MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls global Open Beta ran July 24–26, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC — the final free test before the August 6 launch. Over 72 hours, players accessed 16 of 20 launch characters with casual and ranked matches, training, local versus, and early Amazing Guardians Episode Mode chapters.

Steam concurrent players peaked at 33,233 during the test — surpassing Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 open-beta peaks for the genre. Green Goblin was added as a bonus 16th fighter beyond the planned 15. Hulk, Carnage, Deadpool, and Loki stayed locked until the full release.

Open Beta Results and Ranked Meta

Vibranium+ usage data compiled near server shutdown shows Blade and Magik tied at the top of overall pick rates. Magik led Leader (point) distribution; Blade led Assist usage and was the only fighter in the top four of both roles. Magneto, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Panther (Shuri), and Doctor Doom formed the next competitive tier.

Danger sat at the bottom of the high-rank sample. These trends informed launch-week team building, but the full 20-character roster — plus Fall 2026 Phoenix Cyclops — will reshape the meta quickly after release.

PC Performance Feedback → Launch Patch

PC players reported lag, rollback inconsistency, frame drops, shader-compile hitches on startup, high CPU usage, cross-play friction, and Easy Anti-Cheat errors (including Steam Deck / Proton). Arc System Works publicly confirmed the feedback — “message received” — and listed launch improvements for those systems plus OBS and Discord compatibility.

See our PC Performance Fixes guide for community workarounds (shader warm-up, exclusive fullscreen, overlay disabling, eos_eac_setup cleanup) while you wait for the day-one patch.

What Comes Next — Launch Week

Beta progress does not carry over. At launch you get the full 20-character roster, All-Star Arena, Arcadia Rumble, Battle Arcadia lobby activities, and Episode Mode. CEO 2026 (Orlando, August 14–16) already lists over 1,050 entrants for the first official tournament.

Prepare with our Launch Day Guide for unlock times and the PS Plus Pack, then lock a Blade or Magik-centered squad using the Tier List and Team Builder.
