This tier list reflects character strength based on Beta 3 testing, community feedback, and early competitive observations ahead of the August 6, 2026 launch. Rankings will shift once the Open Beta (July 24–26) provides extended hands-on time and post-launch balance patches arrive. Treat these placements as a launch-window read rather than a final verdict.
MARVEL Fighting Souls emphasizes team synergy over individual character power. An A-tier character paired with optimal assists often outperforms an S-tier character on a poorly constructed team. Consider these rankings alongside our team build recommendations for the most accurate competitive assessment.
S Tier — Meta Definers
Star-Lord leads the S tier with his Element Gun versatility and exceptional assist integration in the updated tag system. Spider-Man follows with accessible aerial combos and ground assist calls from airborne positions. Ghost Rider anchors teams with his Vengeance Gauge scaling and chain pressure. Wolverine rounds out S tier with Berserker Rage armor and aggressive mix-up tools.
Some community sources also place Magneto, Doctor Doom, and Captain America in S tier based on their zoning control and fundamental reliability. The exact S tier boundary remains debated until Open Beta data confirms placements.
A Tier — Strong and Reliable
Doctor Doom, Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk occupy A tier with strong fundamentals and excellent team synergy. Doctor Doom's shield assist and laser coverage define neutral for many top teams. Iron Man provides consistent mid-screen beam pressure. Captain America offers safe point presence and Captain America pairs naturally with zoning assists.
Black Panther, Magik, and Storm sit at the top of B tier approaching A tier — each excels in specific team compositions but lacks the universal versatility of S-tier picks. Storm's weather control and Magik's portal setplay reward dedicated practice.
B and C Tier — Situational Specialists
Ms. Marvel, Peni Parker, Danger, and Green Goblin occupy B-C tier with high skill ceilings and situational strengths. Peni Parker's mech suit setplay and Danger's AI traps can climb tiers once the community discovers optimal routes. Loki's trickster tools require match-up knowledge to maximize.
All four C-tier characters can rise with future patches and discovered tech. The Open Beta with Blade playable provides the cleanest opportunity to pressure-test these placements before committing to a main character.
