MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches with a roster of 20 playable characters divided into five canonical teams of four. Each team represents a distinct faction within the Marvel Universe, from the Fighting Avengers defending Earth to the Samurai Outriders wielding supernatural powers. You select four fighters for every match, though only two are active at the start — the full squad unlocks through Wall Breaks and round losses.
Arc System Works has reimagined every character with anime-inspired designs and bespoke move sets inspired by Marvel lore. Normal, Special, and Unique attacks reflect each hero or villain's iconic abilities, while Ultimate Skills deliver cinematic team-wide devastation. Whether you prefer zoning with Doctor Doom or rushdown with Wolverine, the roster offers archetypes for every playstyle.
All Five Launch Teams
The Fighting Avengers team led by Captain America includes Iron Man, Hulk, and Black Panther — a balanced squad mixing shield defense, repulsor zoning, raw power, and agile flanking. The Amazing Guardians feature Spider-Man, Peni Parker, Star-Lord, and Ms. Marvel with emphasis on aerial mobility and assist-heavy combo extensions.
Unbreakable X-Men brings Storm, Wolverine, Magik, and Danger with weather control, berserker aggression, portal setplay, and AI-driven traps. Knights of Doom unites Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage as the premier villain faction. Samurai Outriders rounds out the roster with Ghost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, and Loki.
Character Selection Strategy
Team composition matters more than individual tier placement in MARVEL Fighting Souls. The shared Vital Gauge means your anchor character's survivability affects the entire squad, while Assemble Gauge synergy determines how effectively you extend combos across fighters. Consider pairing a strong point character with assists that cover your weaknesses — for example, Star-Lord's zoning pairs well with Doctor Doom's shield and laser pressure.
All 20 launch characters are available in the Open Beta from July 24–26, 2026, giving you a chance to test every fighter before the August 6 launch. A Year 1 Character and Stage Pass will add four additional fighters and one new stage post-launch, expanding the roster beyond the initial lineup.
