How to Play Wolverine – MARVEL Fighting Souls
Wolverine guide for MARVEL Fighting Souls — Berserker Rage, X-Force fireball, Weapon X mix-ups, and combo routes for the Unbreakable X-Men rushdown fighter.
Wolverine is the Unbreakable X-Men's aggressive all-rounder in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, featuring Berserker Rage mechanics that grant armor and enhanced damage. Voiced by Steve Blum, Wolverine combines fast claw normals with versatile special moves that create left-right mix-up situations and devastating combo routes.
Current beta tier lists consistently place Wolverine in S-tier thanks to his strong fundamentals, anti-air tools, and seamless integration with the updated tag system. His Berserker Rage state changes how opponents must respect his pressure, making him a premier point and anchor choice.
Berserker Rage System
Berserker Rage activates through specific normal attacks and special moves, granting Wolverine enhanced properties including armor on certain attacks. Berserker charge moves do not require manual activation — landing the appropriate options automatically triggers Berserker state. Any Berserker charge move ends the rage state, requiring you to rebuild it through successful attacks.
Savage Instinct (Level 3 Super) grants one free Berserker Rage attack without ending the rage state — effectively giving you two rage-powered attacks for one activation. Time Savage Instinct for maximum damage during critical round-closing moments.
Special Moves and Mix-ups
X-Force sends a claw slash followed by a fireball projectile. The slash destroys opposing projectiles before launching his own, giving Wolverine strong neutral against zoning characters. Weapon X is his dive kick command move — light version is safe, while medium and EX versions bounce the opponent for follow-up combos.
Hold forward or backward during Weapon X to control landing depth, creating left-right mix-up situations that are difficult to block consistently. Eviscerator has two enders: Light produces a horizontal wall-break attack, Medium delivers an overhead slam in front of Wolverine.
Team Synergy
Wolverine excels as point character in the Rushdown Aggression team build with Magik, Storm, and Captain America. His fast Assemble Rush extensions pair with Magik's portal assists for ambiguous offense that overwhelms defensive players.
As anchor, Wolverine's Berserker Rage scaling makes him dangerous when your Vital Gauge is low — opponents must respect his armor moves or risk losing the round to comeback damage. Practice the Eviscerator wall-break route for stage transition opportunities.
