Open Beta Tips – MARVEL Fighting Souls
Tips for the MARVEL Fighting Souls Open Beta — what to practice, characters to try, and how to prepare for the August 2026 launch.
The MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls Open Beta from July 24–26, 2026 is your best opportunity to experience the game before purchasing. With all 20 launch characters and the newly playable Blade available, these tips help you maximize your limited beta time and make an informed launch day decision.
First-time fighting game players and veterans alike benefit from structured beta practice. Focus on fundamentals before jumping into online ranked matches, and use training mode extensively to learn your preferred character's combo routes.
Priority Practice Areas
Start with the in-game tutorial mode to learn basic controls, Link Attacks, and Assemble Rush timing. Then practice one reliable combo route in training mode before going online — consistent execution matters more than flashy multi-character sequences at the beginner level.
Test the three meta team builds from our team builds guide: Zoning Control (Star-Lord point), Rushdown Aggression (Wolverine point), and Air Mobility Chaos (Spider-Man point). Playing each archetype for 30 minutes reveals which playstyle suits you before committing to a main team.
Characters Worth Testing
Blade is the headline new addition — test his vampire hunter kit and evaluate how he fits into existing team compositions. S-tier characters Star-Lord, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, and Wolverine represent the current meta and provide strong baseline experiences.
Do not overlook A-tier characters like Doctor Doom and Captain America, whose assist tools integrate powerfully with the Beta 3 aerial assist system. Sometimes a character that feels awkward solo becomes exceptional when paired with the right assists.
After the Beta
Beta progress does not carry over to the full game. Use the beta to decide which edition to purchase — if you plan to buy all DLC characters, the Digital Deluxe Edition's Year 1 Pass saves money over individual purchases.
Return to our tier list and team builds pages after the beta concludes. Community tier placements will shift significantly based on Open Beta data, and we update our guides accordingly for the August 6 launch.
